HOME – A Center for Helping Children
Our focus is on assisting children in “red” zones. Evacuation and operation of our own foster care service. Currently, we support over 20,000 children.
However, there is a special category – orphans with elderly guardians. As of now, we have 98 such families under our care. This is a high-risk group since the guardians are aged 70+. We rent housing for these children and work with them daily.
For example, we take care of Vladik from Lyman, a 7-year-old boy. He was evacuated with his grandmother, who is now his legal guardian. Our foundation rents an apartment for them, takes him to a psychologist twice a week, and fully provides food, medical care, and clothing.
Through Vlad’s case, we realized the need to create a place where such children could live and receive comprehensive support until adulthood, while their guardians could continue living there even after the child turns 18.
This is how the idea for the HOME project was born. This category of children and elderly people requires 24/7 assistance. We started researching models of similar centers to adopt the best practices.
Our team visited all well-known and even little-known shelters, rehabilitation centers, and refuges in Ukraine and across Europe. Only one (!!!) truly deserves attention – ‘City of Goodness’ by Marta Levchenko, the largest shelter in Ukraine. It currently houses 300 mothers with children, two relocated orphanages, a hospice for children with cancer, and an animal shelter.
At that moment, we understood exactly how HOME should look for children. For nearly six months, we searched for a property that met our criteria – a large territory, a village or city outskirts, and 2-3 buildings with space for future expansion.
We found such a property. In September 2024, we launched a fundraising campaign to collect 5 million UAH. As of January 2025, Ukrainians have entrusted us with donations exceeding 1 million UAH.
The Vyunnyk family from Kyiv, Victoria and Artem, learned about our activities and donated buildings to the foundation. The collected funds will be used for renovations.
What will the HOME Center look like in the next five years? We have a clear vision and a ten-year development plan.
Currently, our foster care service focuses on families of fallen heroes, those in captivity, those wounded in war, children of State Emergency Service workers, and children of medical personnel in “red” zones.
For these families, we are developing (and partially have already implemented) a rehabilitation program. At HOME, children and their mothers will be able to undergo a 7 or 10-day rehabilitation course with full board. The center will provide psychological support and group therapy. We also plan to obtain a medical license.
However, for most of these families, simply spending a week in a peaceful environment is already a form of rehabilitation. The opportunity to talk to people with similar experiences who truly understand them is invaluable.
We firmly believe that we must take responsibility for the children and wives of those who took responsibility for us and sacrificed their lives or health to protect our country.
